The cut off is calculated on the basis of the top NEET score and the Candidate's Category. It is 50 percentile of the top NEET score for General Category and 40 percentile of the top NEET score for OBC,SC,ST. Now because the top NEET score changes every year, the cut offs also change every year. Cut offs change every year depending on various factors such as no.of Candidates appearing for the exam, no.of Candidates qualified, top NEET score and difficulty of the exam. Once the DGHS releases the NEET merit list and cut offs at the All India Level, the respective State Authorities will prepare the merit list for the State. In case of Karnataka, KEA is the Counselling Authority. The top NEET score among Karnataka Candidates is checked and ten the merit list is prepared by calculating the 40-50 percentile of the top NEET score. 2 Rounds of Counselling are followed by a Mop up round.
