Hey aspirant, I hope you are doing good, you can do phd after Mtech without gate, several university like NIIT and IIT conduct their exams and they also have a round of personal interview. Duration of phd vary it depend upon the theme and also on candiates , varies from 4-6 years., many universities provide scholarship for phd students to meet their expenditure. After doing phd you have more opportunities in your career.
Actually , There is no need of GATE score to apply
for PhD after M Tech. There will be written test or interview once students are called on the basis of their academic credentials. Written test can be technical or aptitude basis. Normally interview is related to the research field in which student applies.
Also , since you have mentioned you've done mtech . So if you have a Bachelor's degree from any IIT and having a CGPA/CPI score of 8.00 (out of 10.0) and above can apply for admission to PhD programmes. Such
candidates are exempted from the requirement
of GATE qualification.
