How to get admission in IIM Ahmedabad ?
Dear Niyati
IIM ahmedabad is the mecca of indian MBA colleges. So getting in is just more tough than other b-schools.
First of all you need to clear CAT examination with a percentile over 99% assuming General category and after that the call will depend on various factors such as your academic background, your academic scores should be high.
ALso then the main deciding factor after getting a call is GDPI performance. You need to ace the GDPI process to ensure that you secure a seat in IIM A.
All the best
Hi Niyati ,
Before I answer I am assuming that your question is regarding how to get a PGDP (Post graduation diploma program) admission in IIM Ahmedhabad. All the IIMs including IIM Ahmedabad accept CAT (Common Admission Test) scores as their primary criteria. For this particular institute you should have atleast 99 %tile (general category) , 97-98%tile (OBC) & atleast 96%(SC and ST). Once you have cut off score , you get the call from the institute for WAT and PI which come next to score in the selection criteria. So your CAT score , WAT score and PI score together will fetch you an admission into IIM A. While this is the procedure to get into the institute , the preparation part of it is all together a different one. You need rigorous practise for scoring 99 %tile and above. All the best!
In Order to get Admission into IIM Ahmedabad, you will have to write the CAT exam. Once you qualify the minimum criteria for MBA at IIm Ahmedabad, you are further considered for shortlist. The minimum Qualifying criteria is 75 perdcentile in each of the three sections. Post this the top few basis the overall percentile are taken and called for WAT PI round. In general category, the calls for IIM Ahmedabad end at 99.85 percentlie.
The shortlist for calls also depends on your cumulative score from X, XII, Undergraduate and the CAT Score. The shorlisted people then go through WAT and PI and then the top 350-400 students are chosen based on the cumulative scores. It is very hard to get into IIM Ahmedabad. Out of 2-2.5 lakh students who write the exam only 400 make it there.
1) Stellar profile with great past academics and extra curriculars.
2) Cat score 99%ile plus.
3) Good Communication skills to crack the further process of elimination once you get a call.
Once you have all the three you can get into IIM-A

Hello Niyati,
Getting into IIM-Ahemdabad is very challenging one but not impossible. Dedication and hard work will help you reach towards your destination.
First , You need to give CAT Exam conducted by IIM's and you need to score 99+ percentile in CAT. Sometimes IIM-A gives call to girls at lesser percentile to maintain the diversity but always the safest side will be 98-99+. If you're engineer aim for 99+ and non engineering 98+.
GD PI will take into account your work ex along with your academic background and it should be always 80-85+ in 10,12, graduation to be on a safer side to get through.
Hope it clears your doubts
All the best for your future endeavours
