College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry - Mizoram
Undergraduate Programme
The College is offering the degree of Bachelor of Veterinary sciences & Animal Husbandry Since 1997 and has adopted fully the minimum Standard for Veterinary Education (Five Year B.V.Sc. & A.H.-Degree Courses) Regulation-1993 prescribed by the Veterinary Council of India. The B.V.Sc. & A.H. Degree Programmes is spread over a period of 10 semesters, covering 188 Credit Hours including 6 (six) months Cumpulsory Internship Programme.
The Present intake capacity is 67 students per annum. the University allocates the seats and seeks nominations from the respective North Eastern Hill States. The Concerned Departments Of the respective State Goverment nominate the students on the basis of competitive enterance examinations conduct by them for the Admission. Fifteen percent of total seats are reserved for the candidates nomonated by the Veterinary Council of india, New Delhi on All India Competitive Examination (A.I.C.E) for Admission to B.V.Sc.& A.H. Degree programme. The Reservations of Various catageries are as adopted by the respective State Goverments and the University in view of the directives recieved from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. Of India.
Postgraduate Programme
At Present, the college is offering Post-Graduate programme in 17 subjects namely Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology, Veterinary Surgery & Radiology, Livestock Production & Managment, Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Gynaecology Obstetrics, Veterinary Biochemistry, Animal Genetics & Breeding.
Admission to Postgraduate (M.V.Sc.) program is based on the merit of the students in the qualifying examinations and is open to all india basis. However, performence is given to the Students of North Eastern Hill region. for Twenty-Five percent of the seats, the candidate are nominated by Indian Council of Agricultural Resarch, new Delhi (ICAR) on the basis of All India JRF/PG entrance test.
PhD Programme
At present the college is offering PhD programme in 6 subjects namely Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology, Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Microbiology.
Admission in Ph.D. programmes will be on the basis of Entrance Test, Academic Records and Interview. The written entrance test shall be conducted at the College of Postgraduate Studies, Umiam (Barapani), Meghalaya and the Dean of the College shall act as Coordinator of the test. The question papers shall be invited from the External Experts in the respective disciplines. The Experts shall be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor from the Panel of Experts proposed by the Director of Instruction.
