It completely depends upon the state you are talking about.
In order to get domicile of any state you need to fulfill its eligibility criteria for the same
For example,
You can get domicile of Delhi and be eligible for 85% state quota in Delhi by just passing your 11th and 12th from Delhi.
Whereas,
If I tell you about you UP then
You can get domicile of UP and be eligible for UP state quota by fulling any one of the below criteria:-
You must be native of UP and your father should be a Resident of the state of UP.
Your parent/s should have lived UP for at least 3 years.
Your parent/s should be working with the Government of India.
If you have passed your 10th and 12th from the state of UP, then you don't need to furnish domicile certificate and you will be eligible for UP state quota
If you have have passed either your 10th or 12th UP, then you need to furnish UP residence proof of your parent/s in order to be eligible for UP state quota
