Hi Prasanth,

There are several options available for B. Sc. Physics students as a summer research intern. Several academic and research institutes across the country organize summer internships, some of which are listed below.

  • TIFR - Visiting Student Research Program
  • National Initiative on Undergraduate Sciences - Physics Camp (for 1st year students)
  • ICTS, Bengaluru - Summer Fellowship Program and Long Term Visiting Students’ Program
  • SINP, Kolkata
  • IMSc, Chennai
  • IoP, Bhubaneswar
  • IISERs usually have their own summer programs and have a lot of interns over the summer
  • IITs like IIT Madras, Roorkee and Bombay also have their own summer fellowship programs

Other than these formal internship programs, perhaps the most common method of securing internships is to contact (by email) a researcher / professor of your choice who works in an area of your interest, at a research/academic institution.
If Professor finds your CV interesting and your interest in that particular subject, they can offer you some summer internship (mostly non-paid).
