Hello aspirant!

I shall first talk about the exam to get a job in National Informatics Centre. The exam is conducted by National Institute of Electronics and Information technology to recruit candidates for different posts. One such post is " Scientist - B".

In exam consists of 2 rounds : a written test common to all, and the interview round for those who clear the written test. The written test comprises of 2 sections : technical questions that will be asked from Computer Science and technology (78 questions) and then non technical section that comprises of topics such as logical reasoning, analysis etc (42 questions) . The total time duration for 120 questions is 3 hours and all are objective based questions(MCQs). The marking scheme is that 1 mark is awarded for every correct answer and 0.25 marks is deducted for every incorrect answer.

How to prepare for the exam?

  1. Firstly go through the syllabus as given in the official website of NIC.
  2. Dedicate more time for technical questions and brush up all the concepts you studied in B.Tech.
  3. Solve aptitude questions. They usually contain all kind of reasoning and analysis based questions.
  4. Practice with question papers of previous years.
  5. The time to question ratio is around 3:2 which means, you must improve your speed and concentration level to be able to answer 2 questions in 3 minutes.

How to apply?

Visit the official website of NIC. When the exam is called, details regarding the same will be put up there. You need to fill the application form, pay the fee and provide the documents required.
