The evergreen and ever growing mechanical industry witnesses an ongoing enormous development in its technology and application methodologies. It has proved its stability even during the economic recession and has also captured the attention of the whole world with some innovative products. The Department offers a full-time undergraduate course in the Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering & Full Post Graduate Course Manufacturing Engineering. The department also offers a part-time under graduate course in Mechanical Engineering and part-time post graduate course in Manufacturing Engineering. The Department has well-equipped laboratories with state of the art facilities. The department has been organizing a cascade of seminars, guest lectures, workshops, Faculty Development Programs, symposia, conferences, industrial visits, in-plant training and inter collegiate programmes from time to time for the benefit of the faculty members and students through its Technical Association — “Association of Mechanical Engineers of AVIT”, Engineering Design Collegiate Club (EDCC) and professional bodies like Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), ENFUSE, SAE Collegiate club, NIQR. The department is entrusted with research Centres in Alternative Fuels testing and Bosch Automotive Research. The department has established TARG-Thrust Area Research Group in three major fields of Mechanical Engineering, viz. Materials and Manufacturing Technologies, CAD/CAM, Automotive Research. The Faculty members and students being members of these groups continuously engaged in the research of the recent developments in Mechanical Engineering
domain.

Engineering Graduates will be able to:
1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
