Hello,

First of all you need to complete your graduation in any disciple from a recognized university in order to appear for UPSC, there's no such restriction as in only coming from particular stream people qualify, the preparation and strategy more or less remains the same for every aspirant, the one advantage humanities students have is they are already well acquainted with the subjects like history, geography, economics etc as they have been with these from +2 level till graduation or further, if applicable.

For starters, get acquainted with UPSC syllabus, this is the most important step in order to have a solid foundation in your preparation process, the reason being this will allow you to know what to read and skip. Next, important thing is newspaper reading, the best choice is The Hindu or The Indian Express, start with small steps. When it comes to starting preparation for UPSC, go with NCERT books first and then move to other standard book, it's important to build the base here. These are the few things you can start with in your graduation period, also you must start practicing answering writing in advance even if it means one answer per day, writing UPSC Mains is a huge task, considering nine papers it has, you can visit online sites for toppers answer sheets to get an idea about how to write and present your answer in beautiful way to fetch more marks.

If you want to know anything else, you can write it down in the comment box below.

Hello

If you want to become an IAS officer then after your 12th commerce first of all you need to do graduation  in any discipline of your choice  and then after graduation you need to appear in one of the toughest examination called UPSC, and it has 3 stages which are listed below :-

*The first stage of the exam is Preliminary examination (objective )

*The second stage, Mains (written).

*If you manage to clear both prelims and mains then you are to go through third stage i.e interview/personality test .

And if you managed to clear all the three rounds mentioned above, then congratulations you may become an ias officer

Thank you
