How to improve the weightage of resume?
Answer (1)
Do:
- Keep it short and sweet. One page is all you need.
- Highlight your skills, experience and education
- Keep some mystery; don’t lay it all out. The interviewer will use your resume as a guideline to base questions off of. If you say it all upfront, you have nothing to expand upon.
- For a modern finish, use a sans-serif font (keep it between 12–14pt)
- Customize each resume for the job you are seeking
- Indicate key job duties performed in previous employment that will make you a good fit for the position.
- Keyword optimize based on the job posting, but don’t overdo it. Work these into the sentences smoothly.
- Remember that this resume isn’t for you; it is for your employer. You are essentially a product; the employer is a consumer. Showcase that you are exactly what they are looking for.
- Use color. Don’t be afraid to stray from the black and white; but at the same time, don’t go overboard.
- Pick a color pallet, like a muted green or pale blue, and use that as an accent.
- Avoid off-putting colors such as red, or neon anything.
- It’s okay to use color in your headers, but keep the body black or dark grey.
- Make it easy to read.
- Employers and recruiters spend an average of 6 seconds scanning your resume. You need to make an impression, and the important stuff needs to be easy to find.
- Use headings, sub-headings, bullet points and tables.
- This would definitely help you to improve the quality of your resume
