Hello,

The syllabus of Verbal Ability consists of Sentence completion, Synonyms, Antonyms, Idioms, and Phrases, Comprehension of passages, Proper Usage of Words, Vocabulary, Grammar, Fill in the Blanks etc. you can refer Word Power Made Easy for building your vocabulary, and apart from this reading newspaper especially the editorial part on a daily basis helps regarding this along with comprehension part, you can choose The Hindu or The Indian Express for this, for covering the grammar portion you can refer wren and martin book, that's the best book to cover the fundamentals, other than these you can go for books such as How to prepare for  Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension for the CAT, by Arun Sharma and Meenakshi Upadhyay, The Pearson Guide to IIM-Indore-IPM Entrance Examination for covering the verbal ability portion of IPMAT.
