Depending on your qualifications, you could join Indian Air Force in any of the branches - flying branch, ground duty (technical) branch and ground duty (non-technical) branch. For entry to flying branch, graduates can enter through CDS, NCC special entry, AFCAT entry. After 10+2, you can enter through NDA.

NDA: National Defence Academy & Naval Academy commonly referred as NDA/ NA is a national level entrance exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)
Eligibility
To Apply for NDA you must be between 16.5 and 19.5 years of age.
You must have passed class 12 with 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics by a State Education Board or a University.

CDS: Combined Defence Services commonly known as CDS is conducted twice a year by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for graduate candidates.
To apply for CDS exam you must be between 20 to 24 Years.
You must be graduate from recognized university.

AFCAT: Air force common admission test It is conducted twice every year by IAF.
Eligibility Age: 20 to 26 years (at the time of commencement of course)
Education qualification Graduates (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline from a recognised University who have attained minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level or BE / B Tech degree (Four year course) from a recognised University with minimum 60% marks

One can join the Indian Air Force as an officer in the flying, technical or the ground duty branches depending on his/her educational qualification.
a) Flying Branch : Fighter pilots, Transport pilots, Helicopter pilots - You would be working as any of these pilots both during peace and war. You can get into the flying branch as a graduate [through CDS exam (men), through AFCAT exam (men & women), through NCC special entry (men)]. You can also get in after 10+2 by qualifying the NDA exam.
(b) Technical Branch : Mechanical, Electronics - You would be taking care of some of the most sophisticated equipments in the world - You can get into this branch through the exam, AFCAT or through University Entry Scheme (UES.)
(c) Ground Duty Branch : Administration, Accounts, Logistics, Education, Meteorology - As part of these mentioned departments, you would be looking after and maintaining human & material resource/ managing funds, work as internal auditors/ work as air traffic controller or fighter controller. You can get into this branch by qualifying AFCAT.
