IIST is the pathway to join ISRO for class 12th students. To get admission in IIST, they have to write the JEE Main and Advanced examination and once they are through in Advanced examination, they have to apply separately for IIST and we go through our own selection process. We select students as per their ranks. We take around 140 students every year (60 in Aerospace Engineering, 60 in Electronics and Communication and space sciences)
We have two streams:
1) Aerospace Engineering: Essentially it deals with mechanical and then aerospace
2) Avionics Engineering: We started with Avionics Engineering. It deals with aviation electronics then over the period we changed it to Electronics and Communication because people who wanted to go elsewhere other than ISRO used to find it difficult to find a career path with avionics as the main degree. So, we changed it to Electronics and Communication
and third stream is Space Sciences
We started with an idea that whomsoever will get admission in IIST, once they become eligible by virtue of their performance, they will get into ISRO. When they become eligible, we have put cutoff marks for them. When they cross that cutoff mark, they will get into ISRO.

There are various levels at which you can join ISRO and at various designations.
After 12th: You can get into IIST (Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology) for their Undergraduate programmes. The admission is based on JEE Advanced scores. Which means you need to have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2. You can pick any of their 4 year Bachelor programmes like B.Tech in Physical Sciences, B.Tech in Avionics and B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering, etc. Or you can also pick up their 5 year Integrated courses in Master of Science in Astronomy and AstroPhysics, Master of Technology in Earth System Science, Master of Science in Solid State Physics and Master of Science in Optical Engineering, etc.
Opportunities are amazing for academically brilliant candidates. With a CGPA of 7.5 or higher, subject to the availability of vacancies, you get placed in ISRO. Aero and Avio graduates have better prospects even outside ISRO.
After B.Tech: IIST also offers Postgraduate Programmes like:
M.Tech in Soft Computing & Machine Learning
M.Tech in RF & Microwave Engineering
M.Tech in Geo informatics
M.Tech in Optical Engineering
M.Tech in Machine Learning & Computing
M.Tech in Solid State Technology
M.Tech in VLSI & Microsystems
M.Tech in Materials Science & Technology, etc.
Opportunities depend upon ISRO Placements conducted by centralised recruitment committee.
Please give me information about isro
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was formed in 1969. It superseded the erstwhile INCOSPAR. ISRO has become one of the six largest space agencies in the world. Latest missions of the ISRO include:
GSLV-Mk III -M1 / Chandrayaan-2 Mission
PSLV-C46 Mission
If you wish to join ISRO, there are various posts and requirements are different for different posts. Ph.D and PG Candidates can register through the official website.
