Dear Aspirant,

following are the main eligibility criteria for joining as Merchant Navy upon completion of your 12th standard.

  • Candidates are required to complete their 12th standard with subjects including Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • Candidates are required to be unmarried Indian citizens
  • Normal vision is required but glasses up to plus or minus 2.5 may be allowed
  • Admission is given based on an entrance exam followed by screening test and a main written examination
  • Upon clearing the test an interview is taken followed by a medical test
  • Candidates are also required to complete a ship-training course prior to the employment. The course is generally short-term where the candidates are taught basic security concerns of voyaging
