How to join merchant navy without pcm as an officier?
There is a course in Merchant Navy called as General Purpose course or GP course.
It was introduced on request from the Shipping Industry, in order to ensure enhanced & multiple utility of ratings, on board vessels belonging to shipping companies, worldwide. Accordingly, the erstwhile Deck Rating and Engine Rating courses were adapted to the new guidelines and concept of "General Purpose Rating" was introduced by the Directorate. This ensured higher employ-ability of the Indian seafarers in world market.
The course Name is :6 months pre-sea course for General Purpose Rating
Total Duration is 6 Months
Educational Qualification Required: Pass with aggregate 40% marks in 10th Standard from a recognized Board with Science, Mathematic as subjects and with minimum 40% marks in English language either in 10th, 12th or diploma / degree exam.
So I advice you to go for this course and then after successful completion you will be at first working on a ship under a team-leader. If you perform well then you can be the team-leader after some years of experience.
That will make you the Officer you wanna be
