Greetings Medhamahima!

Hope you're doing great.

Since I've cracked the IIMC admission paper for Journalism course I'll try to give my insight into the examination. First thing first, if you've completed your graduation in Journalism then I see no point of appearing for this exams. You will only be taught things which you might have already read during your undergraduate level. Technically, IIMC is for those who are from the different stream and want to start their career in either Radio Productions, Advertising and Public relations, or Journalism.

Now, coming back to the question of how to pass the IIMC entrance examination? I'll sum up the tricks whole in three points: Be an active news reader(follow any newspaper), practice creative writing(abundant online course are available), Don't forget to put on your views at the time of answering the questions. If you follow these three steps I'm pretty sure you'll pass through the written exam with flying colours.

After the declaration of the written test, you'll be called for the Personal Interview round. The interview panel will be mostly Insitute teachers and professors and sometimes they call eminent media personality but that's rare. During my interview, the interviewers asked very general questions. As my dad was serving in IAF at that time so, they asked me about AFSPA, how it's affecting northeastern states. I'll recommend please go through introspection and learn about yourself. Most of the questions will be directly or indirectly based on your life experience. They want to know your personality and hence the whole PI round is all about.

I don't recommend any book for IIMC examination. However, if you want you can go through the Journalism competitive examination book by Arihant Publication. You will become aware of most of the kinds of stuff asked during the exam.

P.S: Don't forget to take a pencil to the examination hall.

Hope, this will help. DO reach out in the comment section in case of any query.

All the best! :)

Cheers!

You should live exam in the language which you're comfortable with. Watch RSTV debates regularly, most of the news items will be covered through that. Your answers should have your perspective, write what you feel. Mind you, answers should be diplomatic tone, don't take things personally and try to balance things out. All the best!

Dear Medha, IIMC Entrance examination is held for around 430 PG Diploma seats in Journalism. There is no fixed syllabus for IIMC EE. However going by the previous years of papers, you need to focus on few topics without fail. They include General awareness, Analytical and Comprehension skills,  Aptitude and Mental make up, Language capability and International Development, Quamtification skills,  Brand awareness and recall and lateral thinking capabilities. So make sure ypu focus on these subjects amd practise ample of previous question papers.
