- Being aware of legal news and knowing at least the most common of the legal general knowledge
- practice paper, solve as much as you can
- Also go for previous 10yrs question paper
All the best
Calcutta University Law Entrance differs pretty much with other Law entrance exams like CLAT,AILET, LSAT.
The question paper is a heterogeneous mixture of maths, logical reasoning, gk and English. All these topics cover very rudimentary concepts.
Maths is of elementary level. Not very tough on fact. School level questions from percentage, ratio proportion, average, fractions, probability, simple and compound interest, mensuration etc. It basically needs revision of class 6,7,8 maths. So I would say (as everyone else) R.S.Aggarwal. Still, let me add that the questions ARE NOT VERY COMPLICATED.
English is quite easy. Antonyms -synonyms ,fill in the blanks, meaning of idioms, subject- verb agreement . For this, any good English book like wren and Martin for studying and one of Mcgraw Hill . It's extremely good.
As far as I remember ,hardly 8 questions of GK were asked. That too very simple. Some were from static gk ,while others from current affairs. Prepare Civics ,about Constitution,Legislative, executive, judiciary..
Logical reasoning as well was easy. You must he acquainted with the topics in this section. Any competitive exam book will be helpful.
Surprisingly, unlike CLAT, no legal aptitude questions with principles and facts. Mostly static legal gk like civics. Yet, they might add legal aptitude this year if format is changed ( very unlikely). So do prepare legal aptitude.
All in all, the paper was in fact not tough. It was , I daresay, more like a school level test. What you need is revise the simple concepts of maths and reasoning because mostly the questions were based on these. For English and gk have a brief recapitulation.
For this university test, I guess a competitive exams’ book (not primarily for law entrance )will be helpful.
In general, for law exams, Universal’s Law Publication is a good choice. It has study materials, mock papers and past year papers of law entrances.
Again I am emphasising on the fact that it is not as tough as CLAT or even BHU LLB test
