Before you start to prepare be well aware of the syllabus of these entrance exams. Chart out your time table according to the syllabus. Not only books but you could also mock tests available online along with previous years’ paper.

The entrance test is more or less like an aptitude test. Covering topics like English, math, general knowledge, logical reasoning. They ask approx. 120 questions, +1 for right answer and -0.25 for wrong answer. On clearing the entrance test you would be called for personal interview. Clearing both the test + good marks in HSC might fetch your colleges like Christ or symbiosis.
Now how to prepare:
Practice makes a man perfect-practice as many as possible sample papers to get hold of the concept.
Learn tricks and shortcuts- one can never clear an entrance exam without knowing short tricks. you can learn them from the coaching class you go or through various online portals.
Time management-These tests are all about time management. You have to answer about 120-150 questions in about 2 hours. This means you are given 1minute for each answer. Therefore, manage your time well and answer as many as question possible.
General knowledge- start reading newspaper from today. Also, many questions in the go section might come from here only.
Also try and keep your basics strong.

English: verbal reasoning, sentence completion, fill in the blanks, one-word substitution, syllogism, sentence correction, antonyms, synonyms, para jumbled, same word different usage.
Numerical and data analysis: geometry, algebra, percentage averages, number system, ratio and propotion, profit and loss, partnership accounts, HCF, LCM, time and work, equations, speed distance and time.
Reasoning and intelligence: coding, decoding, visual reasoning, puzzels, arrangements, blood relations, calenders, series, graphs, critical reasoning.
General knowledge: government and politics, history, geography, current affairs, business and economy. There book to refer is R S Agarwal as it is the best book for aptitude tests.
