CLAT 2025: Expected Cut Off & Past Trends | Marks vs Rank
Hi dear,
Hope you are doing well!
Now let's go through your question.
As you will be knowing that CLAT is a national level law entrance exam. On the basis of an aspirant's performance in Common Law Admission Test, he/she can secure admission in National Law Universities as well as other colleges that accept CLAT scores for admissions.
The 5 major sections of the question paper are:
Subject & Marks
English including Comprehension
40
General Knowledge and Current Affairs
50
Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability )
20
Legal Aptitude
Logical Reasoning
Total Marks
200
Look in this tips:
Understand the CLAT syllabus first:
This is the single most important tip, and the most common mistake we see students making. Time and again, we have seen students spending disproportionate amounts of time on Mathematics and Logical Reasoning, solving tougher and tougher problems from a wide range of topics.
Focus on Legal Aptitude:
We have seen students struggling with this area of the CLAT syllabus because of two major reasons it is completely unrelated to what is taught in schools, and the potential area to cover is very vast.
Typically tend to come from just 4 major areas:
1. Criminal Law
2. Law of Tort
3. Contract Act
4. Indian Constitution
GK/Current Affairs Syllabus:
Right away I would like to say that there is no defined syllabus for GK and Current Affairs. There is no source from which you can study that will help you prepare for 100% of the questions asked in the GK and Current Affairs section.
Writing Mock Tests :You should definitely plan to write a few mock tests. However, aim to finish at least 70% to 80% of the syllabus before starting the mocks.
Negative Marking:
CLAT has +1/ -0.25 negative marking. So you get +1 marks for every correct answer and -0.25 marks for every wrong answer. You get 0 marks for any unattempted questions.
English:
Being strong in Reading Comprehension and basic grammar will take you a long way in the English section. Remember to also practice Parajumbles, CLAT has traditionally favoured them.
Weak on weaker topics:
There must be one subject in whom you are strong, you feel more comfortable but there are other subjects where you need to score too.
Be positive:
Take any challenge head-on is to be positive
Remember:
Do not skip sleeping. Try to take a sleep of 8 hours daily to keep your mind and body refreshed. Also, consume healthy food at proper times daily.
