Hello aspirant,

Thankyou for contacting careers360.

Before preparing for DU Jat, you need to get acquainted with the paper pattern. There are four sections; reasoning, quant, current affairs and english. There are 100 questions in total. 25 from quant, 25 from English which include grammar vocabulary, idioms and phrases, 25 from logical reasoning and rest of the questions from current affairs, gk and business aptitude.

It will be better to have a look at previous year question papers. You can also join coaching institutes to get better understanding about the syllabus and also, they conduct regular test series which will help you to know how to attempt jat. Self study is equally important. It is not tough to crack du jat if you give your hundred percent.

For preparation of quant, you can opt for ncert books of math to make your basics clear. Practice is the key especially for this section.

Get an entrance preparation book as they come with many questions, samples and tricks to help you master the section.

For english, start a habit of reading a lot. Frankly speaking, this section won't be tough for you if you regularly read a lot. Don't just read books but also if you come across any new word, write its meaning in your notepad. Vocabulary questions are of high weightage. Also, read editorials as it will not only improve your english but will also help you in general awareness section.

For general awareness, as du jat is a Management exam it is highly likely for the examiner to ask general knowledge questions based on business. I will recommend you to read THE ECONOMICS TIME daily.

Logical Reasoning is all about practice and cracking logic.Dont try to waste too much time on very difficult question. Try to cover all the basics topics of reasoning and then apply the questions which you find difficult on your Friend. Do lot of puzzle for increasing efficiency.

All the best.

Hello Janvi

1. Previous Years’ Papers: It should be the first step to start with the preparation. Practice the previous years’ papers, since they give you an idea of the level of the paper, and the exam pattern. If you are someone who has a problem with completing the questions on time, then set a time limit for yourself when you practice.

2. Plan an Exam Strategy: This is important especially when the time is limited. Attempt the sections you are good at and leave the rest for later. Planning the way, you attempt the questions can come in handy.

3. Don’t mark your answers randomly: Your goal must be to attempt only 80-85 questions and get about 72-75 questions right and the job is done. Remember this – You are NOT out there to answer everything that is asked of you.

4. Difficult Questions: Keeping the above in mind, pick and choose your battles wisely and let go of questions that are going to eat up your time. While attempting the paper, don’t remain stuck on a difficult question, move ahead if that happens. Remember, every question has equal weightage. At times you can reach the right answer by eliminating options that are not relevant to the question. So, think about each option and its relevance, you never know what clicks.

5.Conduct a thorough Section-wise Analysis: Each section has its own intricacies. The trick is to identify those and prepare accordingly. For example – Does the QA section include more of Basic Math or Higher Math? What is asked more in the GA section – Static GA or Current Affairs? What does the VA section focus on?

6. General Awareness and Current Affairs: This section is a huge impediment, If you find yourself to be in the same predicament, then you are certainly not alone. This, by far, is the singlemost MAKE OR BREAK section in the exam. Remember this – If you do not score well here, chances are you aren’t getting to that 300 marks coveted target. You cannot afford to score anything less than 85 marks in this section. The key is to prepare Current Affairs and Business Awareness in an extremely robust way while compromising those hours on static GA may not be as terrible as it may appear. Keep polishing your rusty general awareness, go through the Monthly Questionnaires, Daily Snapshots and Monthly Compendiums from PRATHAM’s material. You will have a substantial advantage over other candidates if you convert this section into a strength area. So give it your absolute best !

7. Be calm, cool and collected: This paper is nothing but an aptitude test, and if you have your concepts and fundamentals clear, you don’t need to worry about anything. Don’t stress yourself out that kills rational thinking, which is a must to give this paper.
