How to prepare for JEE Advanced Exam 2018 and Board exams
Organic Chemistry
Considering you are giving JEE Advanced 2015, you do not have enough time but for those who are going to give the exam in later years should study Morrison & Boyd. It is a wonderful piece of writing and it will really make Organic look interesting to you. So much of conceptual clarity and a wonderful explanation makes it a must read. Though there are a few things which are not required but I will still consider reading it completely as it will fill voids in your overall concepts and thinking.
O.P Tandon is also really good. So ideally Organic should be done by studying both the books.
If you are going to classes, no doubt you should obviously maintain good notes(If you haven't still realized the importance of good notes towards the end, i am telling you now, it's IMPORTANT!) and refer it for revision.
Inorganic Chemistry
J.D. Lee and O.P. Tandon are the best. But confirm it once again that they error-free. This is the section where you have to memorize a lot. There are small small tricks to solving chemical equations which a normal student from any coaching centre would know. They sometimes help to memorize equations.(As in you would be able to predict the results without remembering them but this can not always be a good idea because questions in IIT comes twisted.)
Physical Chemistry
O.P. Tandon and R.C. Mukherjee should be more than enough. Also you need not to solve every question from R.C. Mukherjee and you can safely skip complex problems as questions in IIT aren't very tough. Practice is the key here.
This is just the bare minimum preparation. Other must-have books are R.K. Gupta series and Pradeep series.(Read it as one of the both.)
NCERT books are a bliss. Go and study them as well.
Revise topics daily
These can be done by writing points of whatever topic you read on paper in brief.
Refer your self made notes before exam.
Practice variety of numericals that are possible for a topic.
The most important part about both JEE Main & JEE Advanced is not how much syllabus you have covered, instead of how well you have mastered the topics in all three subjects Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
Your revision plan has to be very strong. The best way of revising now is by taking several tests. This helps you in two ways. Firstly you are doing a new question (since doing questions which you have already done before, won’t help much unless they have some specific importance). Secondly, you are doing it under a time limit. This is very important. Your endeavor is not just to solve the question but also to score your maximum possible marks in that test. So when you do questions under a time limit you realize your speed, accuracy, ability to think, level of stress within a set time and ability to let go of questions that may take a lot of time to solve (but would eventually get solved) and do more of those that may get done faster.
All The Very Best and Good Luck :)
These two exams prescribed above should be dealt with two different ways. Since JEE advanced is an objective one and board exams will be theoretical, there should be a change in the approach.
There is enough time to prepare for advanced since it will be 2 months after board exams. So try to prepare forboard exams well fixing your basics and tgen later on prepare for JEE advanced.
All the best.
Follow these instructions to the word and start today !
Have a Plan
Before you start, its important to have a goal and plan in mind. To crack tough competitive exams like JEE Main and Advanced, strategy can often turn out the deciding factor between success and failure
. Keep in mind the following points to formulate an effective plan :-
1.
Include the entire JEE Main + Boards syllabus while making the plan. Itll help you to see the entire syllabus at one place, and organize them into manageable pieces.
Set deadlines to complete topics by the set dates. Write it down in the plan. This will help you measure your progress and acts as a motivator.
Be practical while designing the plan-set targets you can achieve, and balance Boards and JEE preparations.
Be realistic. Trying to do too much will cause stress and disappointment. Include some rest and recreation time in your plan too- all work and no play makes you a dumb boy.
Focus on theory and concepts
While Board Exams focus on theory, JEE Main is more about practice and application of concepts. For Board Exams, you need to be well-versed with the theory part given in the NCERT books. For JEE Main, you need to learn applications of theory in understanding concepts and solving numericals.
So dont skip out on any theory portion while preparing for Board Exams- you will be tested heavily on theory. This will help you make a strong base for JEE preparations and half your work for JEE Main will be done.
2.
Study the Syllabus completely
Your aim should be to go through the entire syllabus . Dont miss out any topics-no matter how small or insignificant. You are a student- its not your job to judge topics to be easy or difficult, and skip out topics- your job is to study them all! Devote sufficient time and effort for completing the syllabus fully and make sure to study every part of it thoroughly, no matter how hard or easy. Drop the attitude ye nahin aaega, lets leave this. Completing the syllabus in time will boost your confidence and go a long way to help you ace your Boards and JEE.
3.
Analyze Exam Patterns
Its not enough to just study the syllabus and topics- you need to prepare yourself. Study and analyze exam patterns to gain a mental edge- youll know what to expect while giving the exam. Thus, the importance of having a thorough understanding of the question paper pattern cannot be underestimated.
JEE Main and Board exam question papers follow specific patterns-type of questions, marking scheme, etc. These can be analyzed and used to your benefit to score more in these tests. You will know how to break down time and effort for different sections while attempting the test.
Take a note of the differences between JEE and Boards exam patterns. Maximize your score and dont get confused between the two.
4.
Thorough, regular revision
There are some important topics in the JEE+Boards syllabus that require students to learn by rote, like trigonometric identities and inorganic chemistry- this is where regular revision will help you. In Board Exams, you are required to write theoretical answers. Regular revision is the key to scoring high marks in Board Exams.
Note: If you find yourself constrained by time, focus on revision those topics that have maximum weightage in JEE Main and boards simultaneously.
5.
Previous Years Question Papers
This is a major part of JEE and Boards preparation that students miss out. Previous year question papers of JEE Main and Board Exams are a crucial step in your preparations- work hard for this. Practicing previous year test papers will help you to clear concepts, increase your confidence and help you get a read of the exam. Analyze your results , know your strengths and weaknesses , and enhance your study method to gain more marks. Arrange for previous year question papers for both JEE and Boards, atleast 10-15 previous year papers.
Hii..
Firstly you should go through the basics of class 11th and 12th,then try to solve previous year question papers as well as mock test series. The more you pratice, the more you will learn.

Do not lose your focus.. just concentrate and you will get through everything. All the Best.
Hi Aakash. I have to truly say that the scope of the question you have asked is so vast that even 6000 words aren't enough to write an answer. Anyways I hope this answer will help you.
As for the boards, I would advice you to thoroughly read NCERT textbooks. And to practice the old question papers. Note that at least one to two questions will come from the old papers in a similar fashion. Other than the following, depending on the standards of the marks that you want to achieve, allocate enough time for each subject accordingly. An indepth analysis of Computer Science may help you in Engineering. English is totally in your hands. And the additional subject.
As regarding JEE Advanced, seeing that you have jumped up from Mains, I take it for granted that you are confident that you will clear Mains. Now, note that Mains and Advanced are two totally different pieces of cake altogether. Advanced requires a thorough indepth understanding of all the concepts.
This basically depends on how you went through your preparation, how dedicated you were in your preparation. I would presently advice you to give the Mock Tests of FIITJEE, Aakash, Resonance, Allen, etc. And keep on reviewing the concepts in all subjects.
All the best!
Hello,
As the JEE Exam and Board Exams both has same importance you should not give importance to a single exam only
You must take help from the tips i am specially providing for you
Make a fixed schedule considering both the JEE and Boards preparation timings
Daily solve a sample paper to prepare for Boards
Paste important formulas of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics on the Table to revise daily these formulas are very important for both JEE and Board Exams
Ask your teacher if you get any doubt
As the JEE Exam approach focus only on the Board Exam and while preparing for JEE focus only on JEE Exams
As you will get one and half month after JEE Main exam you will get enough time to prepare for the JEE Advanced Exam
Focus on the Key topics during the last months, do not revise the whole syllabus you must focus only on the important topics to be prepared
One thing you need to do is Mark up the important Questions, Derivations and Concepts to be revise at the time of Exams
Check out the JEE Advanced Registration dates and Notification
Now coming onto the
1.Boards: As the time now is very less for these Examinations so you just go through your ncert books as many times as possible and also solve some model papers as they are very helpful in deciding your time division and weak and strong portions and after that prepare accordingly
2.JEE Advanced : These are one of the most elitest exams in the engineering field through which we get admissions in IITs.I would ask you to join some online or offline crash course for its preparation as it's of very grt help in Jee Advanced Examination.
All the best pal..!!!!
Hope this might be of some help...!!!
Hi Aakash,
Prepare board exams by doing practising of derivations as well as theory.
And for JEE Advance do all the DPP's of your respective coaching.
