Dear,
KVPY 2019 SX stream syllabus includes concepts of Physics, Maths, Chemistry and Biology till Class/Grade 12. KVPY SX aspirants need to finish class 11 and 12 syllabus before November 2019.Since there is no unit and topic based prescribed syllabus, KVPY SX stream aspirants can study from NCERT books and IIT JEE (NEET for Biology) coaching material.Choose any three subjects you’re strong in. In that two should be extremely strong. Chemistry and Biology are scoring subjects.Don’t get nervous if you are not able to complete the syllabus till November. Try to join a dedicated kvpy course which focuses on completing KVPY syllabus before the examination. Scope and benefits include
- Scholarship Money. The scholarship money provided to students under this scheme is really good.
- Adds Weight to Your CV.
- Networking.
- Easier to Get an Admission in IISC.
- Research Project Experience.
Hope this helps! Good luck.
Hello,
Physics
- I strongly recommed you to solve the dc pandey five book series, because if you are a studious or high caliber student, you dont really need a deep revision. You need a way to keep the concepts on your mind all the time before kvpy. Start with any of the volume of your choosing which you find interesting. This will make you develop a routine and you will eventually find it easy to manage the classes together.
- Managing time for physics was a easy job for me since i was interested in it. But for a general person, i d recommend making a habit of doing regular work of +2 so that you can keep pace with your class and do half an hour or 1 hour of +1 physics a day.
- RELATE TOPICS!!!!!! Whole chapter of electrostatics (excluding capacitance). Thermal conductivity and poiseulles equation are based on laws of resistances in current electricity. Atoms and nuclei are broadly based on +1 chemistry. You will find it easier to coorelate things with past concepts and revise the older concepts through analogy. This way you would be able to revise concepts along with +2 with ease.
Chemistry
- RC Mukherjee is an awesome book for those weak in mole concept. The first seven chapters are just marvels of mole concept and all of your doubts would be cleared through it solved examples. Must do book.
- Inorganic chemistry. FULL NCERT. And only one more request. For the love of god, learn salts by heart. That is the most neglected part of inorganic chemistry and its the topic they ask you questions from.
- Organic chemistry, ms chouhan is a good book, though to be honest i would like you to practice less and memorize ad learn the reactions more as it is the first step to do in organic chemistry.
- Managing time is easy as once you start rc mukherjee , you fall in love with that book. Inorganic chemistry, you just need to start it once and you will carry on eventually. It is the thing in which i would only tell to "hang in there". Organic chemistry. Write and learn. I wrote my notes once again when i reached home from school to memorize it the same day and it does really work if you are keen reader.
Mathematics
- Do not focus on anything else once they start the real calculus. And by the real calculus i mean its vast applications and hard questions. The one in ncert and board books is of mild difficulty and you can manage to do that, but the tough questions need good amount of practice and hence no other work. PLEASE.
- Analyse your weak topics. Do more and more questions on them rather than focusing on the theory. Only then will you gain confidence in your weak topics. You can focus on maths when they teach you vectors, differential calculus (basics).
- You have a variety of options in reference books, but non of them help for kvpy as the questions they ask are broadly based on your math iq and application of concepts. So i strongly recommend you to solve previous year questions papers of kvpy to get an overview of the questions asked.
SOLVE PREVIOUS PAPERS BEFORE THE ACTUAL EXAMINATION!
