Hi there, Neelam.

First of all, I would like to appreciate your choice of pursung MA in Mass Communication through Banaras Hindu University. It is one of the best courses and more opportunities will be there with you if your pursue it from BHU.

There are multiple strategies and methods for preparing for Post Graduate Entrance Examination but before switching to that you need to understand the basic concepts of this examination. This root level understanding will help you in making a better plan.

PET consists of 120 questions to be covered in around 2 hours. Each questions consits of 3 marks which is a total of 120x3  = 360 marks. For each wrong attempted question, one marks will be subtracted from the total marks obtained by you.


The syllabus for PET consists as follows:

1. History of Mass Communication and Journalism in India: You need to undestand the important historical events with the introduction and emergence of mass communication and journalism in India.

2. Important and Popular Journalists and Editors name: You need to jot down all the important faces and popular names in journalism.

3. Recent programs and initiatives taken by the Government and new significant changes in society: As a part of Journalism study, you need to go through all the programs and initiatives taken by Government and also understand the significant major changes in society.

4. Comprehensiveness and Communicative: You need to throughly study communicative english and comprehensive English.

5. General Studies: You need to study the basic general studies including General Science, General Social Studies, General Mathematics and General Awareness.

6. Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Basic Mathematics.


Major Steps to Prepare for Entrance Exams:

1. First of all, do a detailed study of Introduction and Growth and Journalism in India. You may find a detailed knowlege about the same through various books and videos available on Internet.

2. A quick recap of the major important matters from General Studies will help you a lot.

3. Prepare last 3 years question paper : The syllabus for Mass Communication keeps changing and so you need to prepare the last 3 years papers only.

4. Develop all the ways to solve the analytical and logical questions and keep practicing it back to back.

5. Daily solve a set of 5-10 model question papers and clearly write down and solve the problem areas.

6. Understand the time frame: Do proper scheduling and make an alarm once you start solving the questions. This will let you know about your time and you will be able to identify if you exceeded the limit and to what extent. By doing so, you will easily come to know about which question is consuming your more time and then practice it more to be more frequent.
