In order to prepare for the exam make sure you are aware of the syllabus of the exam. You should refer the previous year papers to understand the exam pattern and level of questions. Refer good recommended books for your preparation like
Andrew Heywood.
You should read the newspaper you can go for Hindu and Indian.
Brush up on india's political history. You can also read economic and political weekly.

Pls go through ug political science hons syllabus,refer previous years papers it was like 2yrs papers and then it's in your hand
