UPSC, is a 3 staged examination which are listed below :-
*The first stage of the exam is Preliminary examination (objective )
*The second stage, Mains (written).
*If you manage to clear both prelims and mains then you are to go through third stage i.e interview/personality test .
And if you managed to clear all the three rounds mentioned above, then congratulations you may become an ias/ips officer etc depending upon your preference and the rank obtained by you in UPSC civil services examination
Now,
If you are class 12th right now then I won't suggest you to start your preparation for UPSC civil services examination as the syllabus in vast and you won't be able to concentrate on your class twelfth board examination studies but class 12th board examination results are very important so that you can get admission in a good college for your graduation, so you can start your preparation for UPSC examination either after graduation or during your graduation. But yes, as you are a pcmb student , you will have to study the environment topic in your 12th Biology which is in your syllabus of UPSC civil services examination syllabus as well so, you can go well through it

*Make a routine or a time table and try to religiously follow it , take short breaks in between your studies.
*Read newspaper daily and keep yourself updated with the current affairs
*Choose your optional subject wisely , choose the subject you have interest in.
*Make short notes for each subject, it will help you in your revisions a lot as syllabus is wide
*Revise :- there's no point of preparing for the exam if you couldn't recall anything in the UPSC Examination so you should stress on revision as well.
*Solve previous year question papers and mock test papers ;- You should solve these , it will give you idea of types of questions asked and their difficulty level and will help you a lot.
*Also work on your communication skills and personality development as it plays an important role in your interview round
