Hi Surabhi,
It is great that you are planning to study further and MBA is probably the best choice.
CAT
or Common Admission Test is one of the most prestigious exams which is widely accepted by the most reputed institutes of India, such as the IIMs, Department of Management Studies at the IITs and many others. Needless to say, the IIMs are considered to be amongst the most reputed management colleges of India besides some others like FMS Delhi, SP Jain, etc.
You may also try for other national-level exams like XAT , CMAT , NMAT , MAT and other state level exams.
Now, to answer your question about when and how to start preparations for these exams. Let me take the example of CAT which is one of the most competitive among all these exams in India. Since you are in second year, I personally believe that there is sufficient time for you to study and achieve your goal of securing a high percentile. The first step for you should be to figure out if you can invest enough time into preparation. By enough time I mean about two to three hours everyday at this stage which is more than enough to prepare you for the exam next year. But if you cannot dedicate the aforementioned time everyday, or you are unsure of following a routine by yourself, then you may enroll in an online coaching class since you will be having classes while pursuing B.com.
Next, go through the CAT 201 8 Exam Pattern which will give you an idea of the vastness of the syllabus. Prepare a study timetable based on your strengths and weak areas. Go through solved papers and start taking atleast one mock test each week. This will help you analyse where you stand in your preparation phase. '
