Considering you are preparing for Gate 2018, so first of all you need to clear your basics properly and once it is done, start doing sample papers and previous year papers. After completing them all and when you get a good grip on your basics, the next and final step to be taken is start your practice on online mocks. Online mocks plays a vital role in gate preparation, it will give you an analyse of your preparation like how much you have prepared or what all weak areas are still there on which you still need to focus. And general aptitude covers 15% weightage so better to focus on
General Aptitude along with Engineering Mathematics if you do both of them very well then 30% will be yours easily.
