Dear aspirant,

As per your question B.Sc. Agriculture is a 4-year undergraduate degree awarded by Indian Universities for 10+2 students preferably with Science stream.B.Sc. in Agriculture is considered as a professional degree by Government of India.

  • Qualification required to apply for B.Sc. in agriculture is 50-60% (depends on institute) in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Admission criterion is an entrance test conducted by various institutes which differs from place to place.
  • ICAR Entrance Exam (ICAR-AIEEA)- It is an agriculture entrance exam conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for  admission to 15% seats in Agriculture Universities in Bachelor Degree programs .
  • B.Sc. Agriculture graduates can find jobs in both the public and private sectors.

Here are some colleges which are best for bsc agriculture::

1.National dairy research institute ,NDRI KARNAL

2.Chaudhary charan  singh haryana agricultural university ,hisar.

3.Indian agricultural research institute.

4.Govind ballabh pant agricultural university,pantnagar.

  • Following are the private sectors which offer jobs to agriculture graduates:Agro industries

  • Agriculture Marketing
  • Financial sector with focus on agriculture
  • Micro-finance institutions
  • Fertilizer companies
  • Agri-biotech organizations

Following are some government sectors which have job opportunities for B.Sc. Agriculture graduates:

  • Indian Agricultural Research Institute
  • National Seeds Corporation Limited
  • State Farms Corporation of India
  • Food Corporation of India
  • National Dairy Development Board
  • NABARD and other banks
  • Agricultural finance corporations
  • Indian Council of Agricultural Research
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research
  • North Eastern Region Agricultural Marketing Corporation.
Agricultural Officer (Agronomist) is one of the most prestigious jobs in the public sector after B.Sc. Agriculture. Agriculture officer, Assistant Plantation Manager, Agricultural Research Scientist, Agriculture Development Officers, Agriculture Technician, Agriculturists, Business Development Executive, Marketing Executive etc. are some of the job profiles associated with the course. The average annual salary offered to these professionals ranges between INR 2 to 4.5 lacs.

And as you asked difference between bsc hons. And general bsc it is mentioned here B.Sc (Hons)is much more specialized as compared to theB.Sc (General)degree, and academically,B.Sc (Hons)is a more standard degree as compared to B.Sc (general).

If you want to study any one of the main sciences (eg. chemistry, physics, mathematics etc.) in detail, it is advisable to go for a B.Sc (Hons) course. But if you want a more balanced and multi-disciplinary approach, it is better to pursue a B.Sc (General) course for under-graduate studies.

Hope this is helpful for you, thank you.
