Dear Alok,

You have a whole year in your hand, I would suggest you complete the NCERT thoroughly and then solve various question pattern for a concept. So eventually you'll be familiar with most of the question patterns and it will easy for you to score good.

  • Being a class XI student, you have the opportunity to streamline your preparations quite efficiently. Focus on the concepts right from the start and prepare notes simultaneously that will come handy during revisions.
  • Utilize the time to understand the concepts through NCERTs. Prepare flashcards for formulae and equations for Physics and Chemistry while make diagrams and flowcharts to understand Biology concepts. These methods help you immensely while memorizing lengthy concepts.
  • Once thorough with the concept, devote time to practice and problem-solving. Practice as many sample papers as possible within the specified time to measure your knowledge and pace.
  • It is helpful to enroll in a competent coaching institute to strengthen your preparations. If you are preparing from home, solve questions on online learning portals. They provide mocks that will be extremely helpful in studying for AIIMS 2017.
  • If you stumble upon a doubt related to any of the topics make sure to get it answered. Take help from teachers, mentors or fellow students. Engage in constructive discussions with a community of peers and seniors.
  • Keep yourself in good health, stay positive during your preparation, and do not give in to anxiety and stress!

That’s about all you need to know to go out there. Best of luck !

NCERTs are the most important books for any UG medical exam.

Biology

Almost every single question in AIIMS entrance is a direct line from NCERT. Read thoroughly. See all the diagrams, tables, charts. After you are done with NCERTs, "Master the NCERT by Arihant" is a good book to solve questions and assess your concepts understanding.

Chemistry

NCERTs are enough to build good concepts. Although you may need to refer some other books for organic chemistry like "OP Tandon" ( you don't have to study it completely. Use it only for reference and to clear your doubts ) but for physical and inorganic chemistry, NCERTs would be enough.

Physics

For Physics, you may find NCERT a bit difficult to build concepts. Although questions given at the end of chapter are quite difficult, perfect to assess your understanding. For conceptual knowledge, you may refer books like "HC Verma".

Please make sure that besides studying NCERTs, do focus on solving objective questions especially PYQs and solve Mock test papers to increase your problem solving skills and speed.
