Hello Rahul ,

These are tricky questions to deal with. If you have started practicing MCQs and reason assertion type you might have  observed that MCQs are easy to get right in contrary to assertion reason type. Reason could be anything like may be you haven't practiced enough assertion reason questions, like you have done MCQs.

In my opinion you should first try to practise only on assertion reason for some days  to see that on more practice these questions can become easy to tackle.

Presence of mind and peaceful state of mind while going through these questions  is also a vital part to get through this section  correctly and that can be learned by revising and reviewing again and again important topics so NCERTs and then question papers will get the job done.

Practice and GOOD LUCK.

First of all, it is important to go through the NCERT PCB textbooks in a clear and comprehensive manner so as to strengthen concepts. The Assertion and Reasoning questions are unique to AIIMS and stump many candidates year on year. It is important to be aware before-hand of what to expect from the options that will be given. Firstly, candidates should read the Assertion statement carefully and think about whether it is right or wrong and what could be the reason. Then read the Reason statement and if it seems right, read it along with the Assertion statement mentally using words like ‘because’, ‘hence’ and ‘therefore’, starting from the Assertion part. If the statement that you have mentally read aloud makes sense and seems right, then the correct option is A, and if not, then B. In Assertion Reasoning questions, the options are always different so read all the options and fill as per that.
