Get NCERT syllabus for physics chemistry and mathematics. Prepare as per syllabus. As your are starting from 1st year you will get enough time for each and every chapter. For any doubt ask your teacher, friends. There are private sites which help students like YouTube and official webpage of NCERT.
Step1 : you have to understand like you have to realise what you have read.
Step 2. You have to practice implementing what you understood like formula, theory to solve numerical and MCQ respectively.

For any hard concept, draw diagram or flow chart. Try to understand and make it a process of learning. Don't do just go on reading.
