Bunty, the syllabus for NPAT and types of questions are different for Engineering, non- Engineering and design branches. So, kindly mention the details of the branch that you have applied for so that we can give you accurate Answers.

For now, the Engineering course entrance examination has questions from 12th syllabus including subjects chemistry, physics and mathematics.
Total number of questions are 120 and total marks is also 120.
For non Engineering course, the test contains questions from quantitative and numerical ability, reasoning and general intelligence, proficiency in English language.
The syllabus for design courses is same as non Engineering course, but it has two papers, in paper 2, they ask questions from observation and problem solving, general awareness and design abilities, etc.

Now about how to study. So, make sure you know the syllabus properly before you start studying. Then, practice old question papers and give mock tests it possible.

Hope this helps.
