Hello Vikas,

At the undergraduate (UG) level, you choose to study in an affiliated college (say St. Stephen's) and you get the tag of the university it is under the jurisdiction of (in this case Delhi University). OR you study in a Home University where the college is itself an University (say Jadavpur University).

At the post-graduate (PG) level, you are a student directly of the university, belonging either to a college, or as in most cases, attending classes in the university building itself.
