GATE requires meticulous practice and you need to stay focused throughout.

Personally, what motivates me is my goal. Before I get into something, I always set a goal and then I work towards. This helps me stay focused throughout. So, i suggest, set a goal for yourself.

Then, go through the entire syllabus thoroughly. Identify your strong ponits and weak points. Also note down the weightages for each topic. This will help you understand where you need to spend more time.

To understand what you're up against and how strong your preparation needs to be, you should also go through sample question papers.

Make notes for the topics. It is easier to read through short notes towards the end, for revision purpose. Moreover, have a table for the formulas and read through them everyday, helps you remember them.

Also, as you complete each topic, simultaneously start practising too.

When you solve sample papers, you may get low scores, you may make silly mistakes but, don't be disheartened.It is all a part of the process.
