Nice to know that you want to become an I.A.S officer, you have just cleared your 12th board exam. you need to keep patience because this civil services exam demands patience from aspirants. The important thing is that , you will be eligible for this exam only after completing your graduation. so that you need to be calm and to keep patience. If you are really dedicated to this exam , than I will suggest you to read news papers and magazines on daily basis , it helps to create analytical power or thinking in you. It is the requirement of this civil services examination. On the other hand you should watch the interviews and the lectures on important personality. It helps you to know the requirement of this exam. The three things which I  know so Far that the UPSC demands to its aspirants are : mental soundness, practical thoughtsand  personality. Good to know that want to become a IAS Officer. First complete your class 12 and graduation. To be eligible for UPSC Civil Services exam, you need to be a graduate. But if you have ambition to become an IAS officer, start preparing from now. The exam comprises three stages - preliminary, mains and interview. What you can do now is that, read more about civil services, take up a graduation course that involves history and polity, read public administration, economics etc, make a habit of reading newspapers and keep abreast with the recent happenings, work on your interpersonal skills and communication skills, practice previous years' papers. This way you can start your preparation for IAS.

First things first, for becoming an IAS officer one has to write the UPSC examinations that occur in three stages: Preliminary, Mains and Personal Interview.

The Preliminary exams is just for the sake of qualifying to Mains. Your preliminary exam's score won't be considered in the final score. The final score consists of Mains and Personal Interview. Preliminary is an MCQ based exam whereas Mains exam is a full-fledged written exam with an optional subject.

One needs to have a graduation degree in any discipline from any recognized University to be eligible to write the UPSC examinations. Hence, if you are confused in what to pursue for your graduation degree I'd suggest you to go with a BA degree in History, Geography, and Political science combination . This combination would be the best and would help you a lot in your preparation of UPSC CS.

It is advisable to start your preparation from the very first year of graduation. Start with the basic NCERT books of Class VI-XII of History, Geography, Economics, and Science.

Slowly, build momentum and start with Indian Polity book by Lakshmikant. For a proper and full booklist head to Mrunal's blog or Unacademy's website (Roman Saini's lessons).

Develop a habit of reading The Hindu daily to be updated with current affairs. Read the Yojana Magazine regularly.

Hi, You are in class 11th and it sounds good that you want to do IAS preparation and have a goal in life to achieve. To become an IAS you can follow the following steps:
1. Complete your 12th with good percentage
2. Get your graduation degree as this is the minimum qualification to the path of IAS.
3. You can opt for BA pol science, Public policy and administration, economics etc. to help with the base formation of your IAS preparation.
