Dear Anya, I completed all my studies under the same category but never was once eligible for any benefits cos BC-C has just 1% reservation. For my graduation and Post graduation, I opted for OC general category. More often, it is as same as a general category. Now a OBC NCL is for those candidates whose parents earn less than 6 lacs per annum so that the candidates can avail reservations in government instutions. When an OBC NCL is being issued, the financial position of your parents is considered. For example, even if you are earning more than 6 lacs per annum, but your parents annual income is lesser than 6 lacs per annum, you will still be eligible for NCL certificate. So if your parental income is less than 6 lacs per annum, then you get to select OBC NCL.
