Hello Aspirant,

Common Admission Test, in short CAT is conducted by IIM Indore every year for admissions to different B-Schools across the country. The paper is of total 228 marks and it will consists of 76 total number of questions divided in three sections namely VARC, DILR and QA. Out of these 76 questions, 54 question will be of MCQ type and other 22 will be Non-MCQ. For every correct answer 3 marks will be awarded and on incorrect answer -1 will be deducted only from MCQs not from Non-MCQs. NITHIN Don't get yourself confused, because the MBA which you will be pursuing if you appear for CAT 2022 , will be of period 2023-25 and the gap year/time will be considered as 2021-22. And also note that gap year hardly impacts your shortlisting chances because there are various factors such as your academic performance in class 10th and 12th, you graduation percentage, graduation background, upon which you will be credited points so yeas if you don't gain any work experience during your Gap period then you would be in the loss of around 2-6 points depending upon the admission criteria of IIMs but this can be balanced if you have tad good academic performance and CAT percentile.

Graduating in August 2021, and answering CAT in Nov 2022, for Admissions in August 2023, will be considered as a 2 Year Gap.

However, if you have certain employment in those 2 years, it would be considered as work experience and might just give you extra credits as per criteria of certain IIMs like IIM Bangalore.

Due to covid our sem exms got postponed... so it is difficult to prepare cat for this year... so i thought to give cat in 2022...so in your opinion it's very difficult to get into an iim after a 2 year gap without work experience?

NITHIN Honestly speaking, getting a good percentile may get you in shortlists, but then you should be prepared to answer this 2 year Gap Question, as sure you will be asked in Interview.
Rest depends on you, do keep hope still have chances and secondly IIM is not the end, there are other excellent institutes with a very good ROI.

NITHIN I still believe you have enough time to prepare for CAT 2021, start from now, for admissions for Fall of 2022.

Abhishek Roy Actually i am a final year graduate. but we haven't even finished our 4th sem exams, which is to be conducted in feb that is next month. due to this my graduation is going to be finished in the month of july to august.. so hardly i don't have 3 months for cat preparation... I can't handle both semester exams and cat preparation at a time because each sem is to be conducted in 2 months of gap.. this is why i wanted to appear for cat in 2022... above u have already told me that it is considered as a 2 year gap... but one of the member had replied it,that it is considered as 1 year gap.. so i am little confused.. i hope you got me...
