Hello, Abhijoy. I hope you are preparing well for exams and you are in good health. Since you are a general candidate, it is impossible for you to get chance in any IITs by only securing 50 percentile.
Check out the data given below. The list contains the Opening and Closing AIR Ranks of some IITs in 2020 JEE Advanced:
IIT Bombay – OR – 1, CR – 4880
IIT Delhi – OR – 24, CR – 5431
IIT Madras – OR – 62, CR – 5319
IIT Kharagpur – OR – 138, CR – 6312
IIT Varanasi – OR – 500, CR – 9805
IIT Roorkee – OR – 294, CR – 7531
IIT Guwahati – OR – 41, CR – 12991
It is important to note that, you have to score at least 155 out of 360 to be in the range of 4700 – 4800 ranking (although these numbers may vary from actual).
In other words, owing to the cutthroat competition, a general candidate must secure at least 89 percentile to get chance in a IIT.
