Hello Greetings!

To get into Harvard Law School after 12th grade, maintain a high GPA, excel in SAT/ACT scores, and provide English language proficiency tests. Choose Liberal Arts or Sciences undergraduate programs, build a strong profile showcasing extracurricular activities, leadership, and community involvement. Apply through Common Application or Coalition Application, highlighting work experience. Science students can pursue law; Harvard doesn't require specific majors. Check Harvard's website for registration deadlines (September) and application deadlines (November).

Have a great day!

Hello,

To get into Harvard Law School, you'll need to complete a bachelor's degree first. There's no specific major required for law school, so you can pursue any field you're interested in, including science

After 12th grade, focus on earning a bachelor's degree from a recognized university. Maintain a strong academic record, as Harvard Law School is highly competitive.

For undergraduate eligibility criteria, Harvard University looks for students who have:

- Completed 12th grade: With a strong academic record

- Taken standardized tests: Such as the SAT or ACT

- Demonstrated English proficiency: If English is not your first language

- Submitted transcripts and recommendations: As part of the application process

Hi Yash.

Getting into Harvard Law School (HLS) has some specific entry paths and requirements. Harvard does not offer undergraduate law degrees like most Indian law schools do. Instead, it offers Juris Doctor (JD) among other advanced law programs. Here is a step-by-step guide to help.

1. Can I study law at Harvard after 12th?

- Admission to the law program at Harvard University cannot be taken immediately after 12th.

- In the United States, law school is a graduate program, and one must first earn a bachelor's degree (undergraduate) in any field to become eligible for law school.

2. Road to Harvard Law School

Here's what you have to do:

Step 1: Complete an Undergraduate Degree

- Pursue a bachelor's degree in any field after 12th grade. The bachelor's degree can be in science, commerce, arts, or any other discipline; no restriction applies.

- Choose an area that appeals to you. Major choice is not necessary while studying law in U.S. schools.

- Most popular undergraduate courses for future law students:

- Political Science

- Economics

- English

- History

- Philosophy

- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)

Step 2: Prepare for LSAT or GRE

While it is being phased out in some schools like Harvard Law, it is not completely canceled out. Harvard now accepts GREs (Graduate Record Examination) for JD admissions too.

-Score well on GRE or LSAT to support the application.

Step 3: build a strong profile

Achieve a very good grade during the undergraduate study.

-Engage in extracurricular activities, for instance

- Debates

- Model UN

- Volunteering

- Research

Some experience in relevant internships or jobs pertaining to law, public policy, and governance must be acquired.

Step 4: Apply for the Juris Doctor (JD) Program at HLS

You can apply to the JD program once you complete your undergraduate degree, which typically takes 3-4 years.

- Requirements include:

- A good undergraduate GPA.

- LSAT/GRE scores.

- Letters of recommendation.

- A personal statement explaining your goals, achievements, and what drives you to pursue a study in law.

- English proficiency test scores, for example, TOEFL or IELTS, for non-native English speakers.

Eligibility criteria for JD at Harvard Law School

A bachelor's degree from a recognized university.

- High scores in LSAT/GRE.

- Demonstrated leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to public service.

-English language proficiency (for international students).

Can a Science Student Pursue Law?

Absolutely. Actually, diversified academic backgrounds are also encouraged; and in the list of that kind will come sciences and engineering. For specific topics focused attention can also help even there:

- Intellectual Property Law

- Environmental Law

- Technology Law

Options after 12th if one wishes to join law

If you wish to begin studying law right after passing 12th, the following:

-Pursue the 5-year integrated law degrees, namely, BA LLB, BSc LLB, and BBA LLB in top colleges, either in India.

- National Law Universities through CLAT - Jindal Global Law School through LSAT-India - Instead of taking the JD, you can do an LLM at Harvard Law School right after you graduate with the LLB.

Key Points

You have to be holding a baccalaureate degree to get admission at Harvard Law School. -Law schools in the U.S. accept students from any academic background, so being a science student is no impediment.

- Prepare for the GRE or LSAT and build an academic and extracurricular profile during your undergraduate studies.

Hello,

Harvard Law School offers a Juris Doctor (JD), a graduate-level program , not an undergraduate law degree.

  1. Undergraduate Studies:

    • Complete a bachelor's degree (any field) from a recognized university (3–4 years).
    • While HLS accepts students from all disciplines, focus on majors that enhance critical thinking, research, and writing (e.g., political science, economics, or even science).
  2. Eligibility Criteria:

    • Strong GPA in your undergraduate program.
    • High LSAT or GRE score (accepted for HLS admissions).
    • Stellar application: resume, recommendation letters, personal statement, and essays.
  3. Post-Bachelor’s Steps:

    • Prepare and appear for the LSAT or GRE .
    • Gain leadership or legal experience through internships or activities.
  4. Law as a Science Student:

    • Yes, HLS admits students from science backgrounds; use your analytical skills to excel.

Start by excelling academically and building a well-rounded profile.

Hope it helps !

Hello,

To apply to Harvard Law School (HLS), one needs to complete an undergraduate degree first because HLS has only postgraduate Juris Doctor (JD) programs. After 12th, join a bachelor's program in any field—science, arts, or commerce—since Harvard values diverse academic backgrounds.

Maintain a high GPA, and begin to prepare for the LSAT (international) or GRE since both are acceptable for JD admissions. Join extracurricular activities, debates, and internships to develop leadership and advocacy skills. Develop a strong personal statement and seek impactful letters of recommendation from professors or mentors.

HLS eligibility requirements include a bachelor's degree, competitive LSAT/ GRE scores, and proven leadership and academic excellence. For you as a science student, it is very simple; your background enriches the diversity. Just work hard to make the most appealing application, do well academically, and carry good extracurriculars for strong competitiveness in admissions.
