Hello aspirant,

Hope you are doing well.

There are two prerequisites. The first step is to pass the UGC NET test. NET/SLET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors in Universities /Colleges/Institutions. After that, you can work as an Assistant Professor while also pursuing your PhD, which is the other criterion for becoming a Professor. The volume and quality of papers published (the journal's quality/reputation) is an essential criterion in good institutions. This is in India, and the situation is similar in much of the rest of the world.

Spend some time determining whether or not you want to be a teacher. Believing in and caring for every student, researching endlessly without immediate reward or recognition, working with apathetic pupils without giving up on them or yourself, and considerable delayed satisfaction are just a few of the many essentials required to thrive as a teacher.

Hope that you got the answer to your question. Feel free to comment back incase of any doubts. All the Best!
