I am a PwD NEET aspirant from Karnataka, please advise when should we approach one of the 12 designated disability centers to obtain the disability certificate? Is it after the exams or after the NEET rankings and cut off are announced?

Hello,

Following is the eligibility criteria for a person to qualify as PwD and claim benefits of PwD reservation-

• Minimum degree of disability should be 40% or more to avail Pwd quota.

• The person must have a Certificate of disability and that too made from 12 centres designated by NTA-National Testing Agency.

Following are the centres-

- Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjang Hospital, New Delhi

- All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (for Locomotor Disability only), Mumbai

- Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research, Kolkata

- Madras Medical College, Chennai

- Grant Government Medical College, J.J. Hospital Compound, Mumbai

- Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala

- Govt. Medical College and Hospital, Sector32, Chandigarh

- Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

- SMS Medical College, Jaipur

- AIIMS, Nagpur, Maharashtra

- Goa Medical College, Goa

- Govt. Medical College, Agartala, State Disability Board, Agartala, Tripura

• The degree of disability must be assessed as per the government's guidelines.

Candidates that are under PwD quota can benefit by the 5% reservation while getting admission in the medical colleges .

NEET 2021 Cut-off goes like :-

• General- 50th percentile

• SC/ST/OBC - 40th percentile

• General-PwD - 45th percentile

• SC/ST/OBC-PwD - 40th percentile

Now talking about the PwD certificate, if you wish to make the PwD certificate now you can get it made now as NEET results will be out anytime soon. Make sure you get the certificate made as soon as possible as you will have to produce the certificate during the counseling be it AIQ counseling or State counseling.
