Hello,
Pray to god. Even if you become one, theres no guarantee the director would take it seriously. In India, most movies are made at the editing desk. Doing research, planning, and writing scripts and screenplay are not part of Bollywoods working methodology. Every year, there are very few movies which are made thoughtfully; try to get into the network of these film-makers.
Whatss the best way to start? Just start.
You can start writing and even producing your short movies to get noticed (a 510 min movie can be produced under a budget of Rs. 20,000, with a video camera. If you have money, theres no upper limit).
There are various film festivals (some even accept movies shot on smartphones) where you can participate and network with people who understand cinema.
In fact, I believe you need to be acquainted to all aspects of film-making (lighting, set design, camera, direction, acting, post production - most importantly the editing) to understand what it takes to be a good script writer.
Write. The shortest answer possible is this.
But if you want to know the details. I would say, first of all you should learn to observe things around you. Needless to say you must be a cinephile and should know whats going on in cinema around tje world.
From your surroundings pickup a unique idea. Then weave a story around it. Then write a screenplay. Just do it. Get it registered.
After registering starts the tougher part. Start seeking people interested to make it into a film. Reach directors and production houses. Be relentless. Even if one director rejects your script another might accept.
