Dear Ayushi, the aim of the Entrance Exam.at M.Phil level is to assess the research aptitude of the candidates and their suitability for a rigorous research programme. Candidates will be examined in Literature in English, Literature in India and other parts of the world, English in India, Literary and Cultural theories, Non Literary Artistic forms, and the relation between Literature, Culture and Society. You should check for previous question papers to have a fair idea of the kibd of queations you will be asked.

Thank you ma'am. JNU has changed the pattern this year, switching from subjective to objective pattern making it harder to rely on previous years papers .The unavailability of MA syllabus to see the readings and books taught in MA makes it all the more difficult since most univsrvsrsti design their entrances based on the MA curriculum .Is there any way to get hold of the MA syllabus of JNU ? Indian and world literature is a very vast term and there is no way of knowing what to read and where to prepare from .
In MA English entrance exam, candidates will be tested for the same aspects as those of for M.Phil. But the emphasis will be for a demonstration of not just in depth knowledge of literature and culture, but literary sensibility and a capacity of original thinking.
