I am an BSc computer science student in Calcutta uni, I screwed up in my practical exam, in second sem, i was wondering if i can give supple for it? or i am going to be failed completely on the subject? and what will happen to my honours degree??
Depending on Calcutta University's policies, you might be able to take a supplementary (supple) exam if you didn't do well on your practical exam in the second semester. What you can do is as follows:
Verify the university's policies: Check out the policies of your university about make-up exams. Retaking failed practicals is an option for students at many colleges.
Speak with Your Department: For more detailed advice regarding your circumstances, get in touch with your academic counsellor or department.
Get ready for the additional test: If you are permitted to take a flexible exam, concentrate on fully preparing in order to raise your score.
You may have to retake the course the next academic year if you are unable to pass the practical and don't receive the opportunity to take a test.
Hello Arunendu,
I am sorry to hear about that. But unfortunately if you fail in tour exam then there are other options available like giving supplementary exam.
Please go and collect information related to supplementary exam from your college. Clarify if you will need to give only theory exam or will have to give practical exam also.
Hope my answer would have help you at least a little bit to understand, what you should do. We wish you all the very best!
Hello!
Failing an examination in practical as BSc computer science student at Calcutta University is alarming, though you may still have some recourse. Most universities, including Calcutta University, usually conduct supplementary exams (supple) for those who fail the practical or theory exam. If you did not perform well enough, you probably will be allowed to take a supplementary exam to get a higher grade.
Do also check the university's specific policies with respect to supplementary exams for practicals. You will have to check with the department or the examination office whether you are eligible to be present for the retake. The outcome of passing the supplementary exam will enhance your overall grade and, above all, the fact that you pass it enables you not to fail the subject at all.
Incidentally, failing one practical exam should not bar you from earning honours, but you would be barred if you can't pass the subject after all attempts. We make sure to take appropriate action either with your professors or the exam office, so they may reassure you of your options and how to proceed.
Thankyou and wishing you the best!
