I am an Improvement student in 12th standard (TAMILNADU STATE BOARD ) passed in the year 2004 (91% Physics 195/200, Chemistry 196/200, Biology 196/200) . Am I eligible to appear in NEET- UG 2021 and 2022. Kindly advise me. Thanks
Hi
It's completely ok even if you have appeared for improvement examination in your class 12th and also it doesn't matter even if you had passed in 2004 .
To be eligible for neet one must have pass 12th board examination with physics, chemistry ,biology/biotechnology and English and must have got:-
-) at least 50 % in aggregate of PCB i.e Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology in 12th examination if belongs to general category
-) at least 40% in aggregate of PCB if belongs to Obc/ Sc /st category
-)at least 45 % in aggregate of PCB in case of general pwd candidates to be eligible.
Now,
Your aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology is
= 195 + 196 + 196
= 587
=( 587 / 600 * 100 )%
= 97.8% i. e more than 50% so you are definitely eligible for neet 2021 examination irrespective of the category you belong to.
Also,
If without improvement examination you have 50% or more in your PCB aggregate in 12th then it would be better to use that marksheet itself.
Now,
If you have passed in 2004 then by now you would be more than 25 years old and the eligibility of students who are more than 25 years old is in the Supreme Court but until it gives its judgement there is no upper age limit so you are eligible for Neet 2021
but same cannot be said with for neet 2022 , as there's more than one year left for Neet 2022 examination and in the meantime Supreme Court may pass its judgement over Eligibility of students who are more than 25 years old and so eligibility is subject to the outcome of the judgement by the supreme court for neet 2022.
