We have Government Medical Colleges/Private Medical Colleges and Deemed/Central Universities in India. NEET is the entrance examination for admission to all these Institutions. Now admissions to all these Institutions is done through All India Counselling and State Counselling. . Under All India Quota, All the 15% of All India Quota Seats except for Jammu and Kashmir, 100% Seats at Deemed and Central Universities, IP Quota seats in ESIC Colleges, Seats at AFMC, AIIMS and JIPMER are filled by DGHS. Once NEET results have been declared and the merit list has been released, the DGHS will release online Registration process for All India Counselling. And there will be Round 1 and Round 2 and a Mop Up round. You have to register yourself by paying a non refundable registration fees and a refundable Security deposit which is refunded if you do not secure a seat in the Counselling. Now for every round, you need to lock your choices. As in, you have to freshly choose colleges that you want to try for a seat in. There is no limit to the no.of seats that you can choose. But you need to remember that the seats are allotted by the System on the basis of merit and preferences. So this is where you need to be smart in your choice locking. Our MBBS Companion can help you in this: https://www.careers360.com/mbbs-companion Now lets say you have been allotted a seat in the first round. If you are happy with it, you can accept it, download the allotment letter and join the alloted College. If you are n ot, then you have the right to exercise Free Exit or auto upgrade option which means you will not be penalised for refusing the seat. Free exit option is only available for 1st round. And for the Round 2 and Mop up round, fresh choice locking is mandatory. This is the process for All India Counselling. Now regarding State Counselling, Private Medical Colleges do not participate in All India Counselling and the seats are filled through State Counselling alone. And for appearing for State Counselling you need to hold the domicile of that particular State. Or else the only other option is through Management Quota;. And there are 3 Categories in PrivateMedicalColleges. Category A is the Government Quota Seats. And only candidates of the home State are eligible to apply for these seats. B Category seats are also called Management Quota Seats and they are filled through State Counselling and the remaining seats are filled through direct Admissions by contacting the College directly provided the Candidate has registered for the respective State Counselling and has not been able to secure a seat in the Counselling. Here the fees is usually nothing less than 40 lakhs. The last Category is NRI seats Category and you cannot apply for that. The respective State Authority will conduct the State Counselling and not the DGHS. The procedure remains pretty much the same. Now you will need certain documents for verification:
- 8 passport size photographs
- 10th marks sheet
- 12th marks sheet
- Valid Id proof
- NEET 2020 admit card
- NEET 2020 Rank card
- Provisional Allottment Letter
