Hello Aspirant,Hope you are doing well
M.A HISTORY EXAM PATTERN
Admission in Master of History is based on the written test exam conducted by the University of Delhi.
- There will be 100 questions .
- All the questions will be of Multiple choices .
- There will be one option correct.
- For every incorrect response, there will be a negative marking .
- Maximum marks will be 400 .
- For each correct answer, the candidate will get 4 marks .
There was no particular syllabus for the exam .If you observed the previous papers the questions will be from every background i.e Ancient History,Medieval History and Modern History. So it will benefit you if you cover all the concepts. There are some basic books that you will need to go through:
- A History of Ancient and Early Medieval India: Upinder Singh
- Ancient India: R.S Sharma
- The Making of Early Medieval India: B.D Chattopadhyay
- History of Medieval India: Satish Chandra
- The Agrarian system of Mughal India: Irfan Habib

- Modern South Asia- History Culture and Political Economy: Sugata Bose and Ayesha Jalal
- Modern Times: Sumit Sarkar
- A Subalteran Studies Reader: Ranajit Guha
- Early India- From the Origins to 1300AD: Romila Thapar
These should be enough for your preparation. Apart from these, you may use a NET study guide by Arihant or Trueman. Both are equally good.
Hope this helps you
