ELIGIBILITY:
• For Master of Arts Programme - Undergraduate degree in any discipline
• For Master of Laws Programme - Bachelor’s degree in Law
Students graduating in 2019 may also apply. Applicants with prior work experience are encouraged to apply and are given additional weightage in the interview process.
TEST AND INTERVIEW:
1.Master of Arts programmes (M.A.): Admissions are through an entrance test (common for all the postgraduate programmes held in February), followed by personal interviews for shortlisted applicants. Tests and interviews in various locations across the country, providing easy access for students.
2.Master of Laws (Law & Development): University entrance test and through scores of other entrance tests applicable for postgraduate courses in law.
3.Master of Arts (Economics): Students applying for the M.A. in Economics will need to pass an online entrance test consisting of multiple choice questions and an essay question. The MCQ's will test definitional and conceptual foundational economics knowledge from microeconomics, macroeconomics, political economy, the Indian economy and quantitative methods.All applicants will appear for a test based on topics found in an undergraduate degree in Economics.
FEES AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: 2019-20
1. M.A. Education/M.A. Development/ M.A. Public Policy and Governance
Full progrramme fee for 4 semesters is Rs. 150,000 (Tuition fee), with Accomodation and food charges Rs. 256000.
2. LL.M. (Law and Development)
Full progrramme fee annually is Rs. 75,000 (Tuition fee), with Accomodation and food charges Rs. 128000
3. M.A. in Economic
Full progrramme fee for 4 semesters is Rs. 150,000 (Tuition fee).
*Family income of less than Rupees 5 Lakhs per annum will be considered for various categories of scholarships.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMMES
1.The Master of Arts - Education Programme is a broad-based programme of study that includes theory, practice, research, policy and planning in education. It has sought to forge interconnections with the larger context of education in India along with the range of principles and practices that inform education studies today. It attempts to develop educational professionals capable of analysis, reflection, conceptual thinking, and meaningful action.
2.The M.A. Development requires full-time engagement for two academic years, including one summer and one winter break. Core courses are expected to provide adequate knowledge, competencies and orientations to embark on a deeper exploration of specific themes. These courses are mandatory for all students. Elective courses will enhance two broad competencies, namely critical analysis and imaginative practice and cover a wide range of topics to choose from.
3. The Master of Arts in Public Policy and Governance is a 2 year full time degree programme that systematically and critically explores the nature and practice of complex public problem solving in a developing constitutional democracy. The programme draws on the disciplines of law, economics, history, philosophy, politics and anthropology to devise an interdisciplinary curriculum that encourages deep ethical reflections on public choice and programme implementation in Indian states.
4. Masters in Law: Azim Premji University launched a one-year Post Graduate Programme in Law and Development (Masters in Law / LL.M.) in 2016 that seeks to initiate a decisive, novel and meaningful intervention at the intersection of the domains of Law and Development in India. The LL.M. in Law & Development at Azim Premji University is unique in having a law faculty dedicated exclusively to post graduate teaching.
5.M.A. in Economics: The M.A in Economics is a uniquely designed programme to develop the next generation of Economists with the theoretical knowledge, and technical skills to perform high quality analysis, while at the same time being grounded in the institutional, developmental and ecological context of contemporary India.
