OBC category has been divided into 2 sub categories on the basis of family's annual income - creamy layer and non creamy layer.

Those with annual income more than 4.5 lakhs fall under creamy layer and are not eligible for the benefits of OBC category. They are treated just like the students of general category.

So if you fall under the non-creamy layer and want to avail the benefits of the OBC category, you obviously need to present the family's annual income certificate.

Hope this will help.

Good luck.
