M.Tech biotechnology is a 2 year PG course. The eligibility criteria states that a candidate must be a graduate with the core subject of their bachelor's degree being biotechnology. B.Pharma and M.Sc bioscience field students can also apply for the course. The minimum aggregate marks in the applicants bachelor's qualifying exam should be 50%
In order to join this program, a candidate needs to appear for GATE examination conducted by IITs and IISc and NITs. Apart from GATE, universities such as LPU and and Amity University conduct their own entrance exams.
Certain colleges such as SRM University and Hindustan University offer admissions through management quota as well.

1. GATE Bioetchnology (BT) or life science (XL) - this is to pursue M.tech . M.S or P.hD from IIT
2. TANCET - to pursue M.tech , M.S from colleges affiliated to anna university
3. CSIR - UGC NET - M.S from CSIR institute
4. CEEB JNU - M.tech from anna university and JNU
5. BITS HD - M.E from BITS
